With a notable mention dedicated to the inspiration and genius behind the idea, my friend Anna deserves a round of applause and props indefinitely. So, as proposed by her, the idea came about to sample and compare food from different fast food establishments. That tasting tacos, burgers or fries for example would be rated on a scale and done in relation to the same foods. Naturally, I was on board at getting tacos to begin with, but getting tacos from as many places as we could, absolutely sold. What made the most sense was to drive up to Chatsworth then from there down Balboa getting Burger King, Del Taco, Jack in the Box, El Pollo Loco and Taco Bell. Stopping at what seemed to be the most important and main spots in a convenient and efficient way. Once accomplished, we raced back in attempts to keep our food warm, but also out of sheer hunger.
Taking into consideration the rating scale however, we asked professional food critics (parents) to participate as well. With a panel of judges, and a rating scale from 1 to 5 including price, presentation, taste, taste with sauce and grease we began. The categories ranged in numbers but concluded with definite results. In order from last to first we decided upon Burger King, Del Taco, Jack in the Box and number one being Taco Bell. Now, while El Pollo Loco was favored best by our panel, it was a chicken taco not a classic beef taco thus taking it out of the running. Overall, Taco Bell was good on price, held up well, tasted fairly delicious, and improved with the sauce given and not too much grease came through wrapper or bag. Burger King on the other hand had a disgusting amount of grease permeating through, tasted oddly (especially with the cheese just being one single slice put in and folded), had a strong and not enjoyed sauce and looked poorly constructed and as though it was dipped in grease. It had an average price which was something to be expected, but learning Burger King had tacos and agreeing to taste them was both a surprise and mistake on our parts.
It has been a pleasure reading your blogs this semester! Thank for sharing :)
